Murphy Family Wins $644k Judgment in Bay St. Louis Harbor Case

Paul Scott and Robert Quimby, with Smith, Phillips, Mitchell, Scott & Nowak, LLP, obtained a jury verdict against the State of Mississippi. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, our clients used and maintained their sand beach in downtown Bay St. Louis in conjunction with their restaurant. After Katrina, a portion of their property was claimed to be in the tidelands trust and then leased to the City for its new municipal pier. A Hancock County jury awarded $644,000 against the State for the taking. Statutory authority provides for fees, as well. Here are two links to articles on the case:
