Madison County: I-55 Frontage Rd
This case involved a partial taking of a commercial parcel in Madison County being used as a health and fitness club for women. The taking was for the purpose of constructing a frontage road along northbound I-55. The original parcel was 4.7602 acres improved with the fitness club building, parking and two undeveloped out parcels. The State took 0.8910 acres leaving a remainder of 3.8692 acres. The building was not located in area taken but the property owner and the State differed significantly on the value per square foot of the property taken. The case was tried before a Madison County Jury in Canton, Mississippi.
